Dual Enrollment - Career & College Promise

Advising and Registration

  • Returning students, check your JCC email for your advisor’s message on how to sign up for your Spring 2026 advising meeting.
  • If you are new to CCP, make sure you have completed the New Student Checklist that came in your acceptance email. Once that checklist is completed, follow these instructions to get an advising appointment to pick your college classes.
  • An advising appointment is required for all first-time CCP students and any student that switched pathways.
  • Returning students are encouraged to schedule an advising appointment, though it is not mandatory.
    • Returning students can create a course plan for review by an advisor in Self Service. (View detailed instructions)
    • If additional advising is required, an appointment is necessary.

  • Review the approved pathway(s) to determine eligible college courses, including options under:
  • Carefully consider high school classes needed for graduation, short- and long-term goals, and future college plans. Discuss these with an advisor during the appointment to ensure the course selection aligns with goals.
  • Select college courses that are at least three credits to qualify for Dual Enrollment.
  • Avoid enrolling in unauthorized courses, as this may result in removal from those classes even after the semester has begun.
  • If students choose a waitlisted course, they MUST check their CCP email regularly since JCC may send an email regarding the waitlist. It is best to download the Outlook Email app to your phone so you can get notifications (View instructions). This also helps if a course is cancelled. Make sure to contact your CCP advisor immediately if a course is cancelled.

  • Consider your high school schedule, work, sports, and graduation requirements when selecting CCP classes.
    • For in-person JCC classes, consult with the high school guidance counselor regarding early-release needs, if applicable.

  • Ensure you have access to Blackboard for viewing class grades, e-texts, and online course materials.
  • Regularly review your JCC class schedule in Self-Service, checking that courses show a "registered" status to confirm enrollment.
  • Monitor JCC email regularly and contact JOLT (Jaguar Office of Learning Technology) for support with email or Outlook if needed.

  • Be aware that dropping a course after its start date may result in financial responsibility for any applicable student fees.
  • Check your account balance in Self-Service and ensure that it is paid by the specified deadline to avoid holds or issues with future registration.

  • Regularly check the CCP Calendar, JCC Academic Calendar, and course syllabi for important dates, especially for billing review and payment, to avoid being dropped from classes due to non-payment.

  • Expect to dedicate approximately three hours per week for each course credit hour.
    • For example, two 3-credit courses will require around 20 hours of work per week.
  • JCC Library provides free tutoring, available on the Jaguar Tutoring webpage.

  • Note that fully online science labs require costly lab kits. Consider taking science labs on campus if a lower cost is preferred.
  • Plan to complete high school-level science courses before enrolling in college-level science classes (e.g., high school chemistry before college chemistry).
  • Check with your receiving institution for written documentation regarding if and how they will accept a fully online science course.

  • Once your advisor locks your schedule, submit any desired changes for review using Self-Service
    • Changes should be minimal and thoughtfully considered, as approval may take time.
  • Use Self-Service to add or drop courses before the start of the semester. After classes begin, use the drop/add form until the census date, and the withdrawal form after that.

  • Meet with a high school guidance counselor to discuss goals for graduation year.
  • For students planning to continue at JCC, connect with the Student Success Center about applying, filling out the FAFSA, and completing other necessary forms.
